“That is how a bicycle is made “

I like everything about this film; the photography, the pronunciation, the scenario, the technique, the old machines, etc, etc.

Life …

… is good when having a vacation!      Watching Gent-Wevelgem on the TV, watching our pond turning into a delivery room and watching my skin healing thanks to all the advice I got from you ……

I failed …

… to reach Hoorn. Not because I was too tired, or wasn’t in good shape. I had troubles with my skin around my genitalia. It was soft and sweaty, so that the skin turned red and became very very painful. I used some lip-balsam (I always have it inside the Quest) but it worked only for a few minutes. Anyone has good advice, please ? Standing at the ferry to Velsen-Noord, I decided to turn around and go back home. I arrived back home at midnight and had done 375 km. according to GPS and 402 km. to Cateye.

It was a good ride, I saw many cyclists on my route. Unfortunately I felt a headache coming up (due to the exhaust gasses ?) but it quickly disappeared when I cycled through the Dutch dunes with clean and clear sea-air.

A short impression on video of the speed bumps between Kijkduin and Scheveningen.

And now for something completely different …

… a trip from Vlissingen to Hoorn and back.

I ordered a new  lexan-visor of my velomobile. Normally it would be sent to me in a parcel by UPS, but I decided to be my own “messenger”. It means 500 kilometers on one day in a velomobile …

The weather will be nice tomorrow, so what keeps me from trying …. Velomobiles are designed for long distances !

it’s wintertime …

… and unfortunately the cables of brakes and hubgear on my Bullitt were frozen. So I decided to defrost them inside our livingroom. Luckily my wife didn’t protest  ;-)

Tomorrow I’ll try to spray some thin oil inside the cables to get it damp-resistant.

I can appreciate this advertisement. No screaming voices, no hollow text and no empty promises. Just “what you see is what you get”.

What should be added, is the warning that only daily cyclists will understand and appreciate the humor !

storm

Today there was a storm wind on my commute. There were moments I thought the velomobile was going to fly ! I didn’t have the guts to make a video, but I must have looked like the guy in this one …

piekboek

Today the “piekboek” was presented to the public. We were part of “the club of 40 +3″ , who paid for the first edition. “de Piek” is a well known pop-podium in Vlissingen, although one of the smallest in the Netherlands. In the early years, youngsters could sleep there for just one Dutch Guilder per night (and have a cup of tea and a joint). The scene changed over the years, but the posters kept 100% arty and ingenious as ever !
