Atom heart mother

When I bought this record 40 years ago, this music exploded in my brains as a atom bomb. I kept playing this music all my life in all kind of situations. During  vacations I’ll listen to this number several times. It became part of me.

Now, years and years later, thanks to WWW and YouTube, I’m able to see how this music was created …

nostalgia

This music is repeatedly in my brain, these days. Must be nostalgia ……

Even when I’m in my velomobile I keep searching for Atom Heart Mother on my MP3-player.

I found a performance on YouTube that is even more beautiful then the original Pink Floyd version ……..

To me it’s a kind of “St Matthew Passion” for Atheists ;-)

Brain Damage

When the lunatic is in your head ………

Richard Wright

When I was on a relaxing vacation in France, he died.

65 years young, so too old to die young.

Farewell Richard…………

INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE

Roll yourself a joint, pour a glass of water, put the volume high and go back in time ………

good old “Pink Floyd”.

I found this video on you tube. I am pleased to see that people take the time to share their love for music on the internet. It takes about 30 minutes and you’ll go back to the sixties. It was the last occasion where Syd played on his guitar. So you can hear the old Pink Floyd sound at it’s top. Later on David and Roger became influential.

I still can be bad tempered when I think of the fact that in the late sixties our radiostations only broadcasted popular music. Even “Veronica”, an illegal radiostation in the Netherlands those day’s, only broadcasted the short “2,5 minute” pop-songs.             Living the eastern part of the Netherlands I was therefore dependent of radio “Luxembourg” wich was a radiostation who gave me the opportunity to listen to the longer songs (14 minutes were normal in those days), but only at night.

So, at night in bed, sleepy listening to my small radio-receiver, I heard it all.      I didn’t need a joint to imagine the thoughts and visuals that directors usually show with the music. When I hear those sounds now (35 years later !), I go back in memory at once.

A lot more Pink Floyd is here

The music Pink Floyd made is timeless, in my humble opinion. Musically Roger Waters and David Gilmour are for me, what Bach and Beethoven are for so many others.
