I’ve seen this on my Valenteyn Kobra too. Put some fine oil on the chain and took it for a spin. Afterwards the rust came off with the excesssive oil. Now, two years later, that very chain looks like a new one. The frame got a paintjob…

You’re right Jan. It is also my experience that most rust is on the outside, while the inside is still well oiled.
