L’ Arenal

We were in this valley for a few days. Because it was a little early in the spring and this valley is quite high in the Pyrenees, nature was still in “hibernation”. Of the many flowering herbs and flowers that we were used to from previous years, there was nothing to see yet. And it was colder than we wished … But nevertheless we had a good time !

We were clearly in Catalonia!

In this L ‘Arenal valley, close to Riu de Josa, you can walk around and watch for days as a nature lover … and every time you discover something new.

People have lived here for many centuries and you can find these stacked walls throughout the Pyrenees. This way of building walls is clearly very durable, which has clearly been proven in practice for centuries. If it collapses a bit, everyone can easily pile it up again …

The current method with concrete and reinforcement is sometimes demolished again after 50 years … and that is only possible with expensive machines.
