I bought a new cap. I think it will be of good use when I’m cycling in my Quest. It is made of “goretex” , although you’re never sure when it says “made in China” too. 😉
Berghaus is well known, but I never saw a cap like this before. Usually caps are “one-size-fits-all”, but because this one was for sale in three sizes I was immediately interested. I have a rather big head (lots of brains 😉 ) and that’s why I decided to go for the XL.

I got the package yesterday and to my surprise I found out that this cap has a wired peak, so you can give it any form you like. I think this feature will be very helpful when cycling in my Quest !

Nice cap! I guess the feature with the wiring can come really helpful, at least if it’s stable enough. I’ve had a blue hat which really sucked at higher speeds (>15 km/h) or in heavy headwinds because it either bowed up, not protecting my face from the sun, or down, so I couldn’t see anything.
Keep us updated on the “state of the cap”, Wim!

The wiring is not stable enough, but due to the windscreen on my Quest, the wind-force is always slightly downwards. I found out that this goretex-cap is not ventilating enough, so it becomes sweaty when I’m using it in dry conditions.
So I decided to use it only during rainy conditions.
You can compare the material with the wind- and rain-breaker coat, you used on your visit in the Netherlands. Because I don’t need a coat (my quest is my coat) my head is the only body part I have to protect against the rain and cold.

So it wouldn’t be an option for me but fits the needs of a velomobile rider perfectly! Good to know.
