Especially now, in the year 2019, in which the Dutch politics (by becoming aware of a rapidly changing climate) reluctantly published the much-needed choices, these eyes for me have become a motivation to live environmentally conscious too. Of course, the measures are not nearly as effective as necessary. And of course, the plans are based on revenue models of the current institutions and companies.
Unfortunately, our current government has abolished all effectiveness and efficiency with “emergency laws”. I expect that these emergency laws will still apply in 15 years.
Current entrepreneurs think and act on the basis of revenue models. The term “public interest” is used so often that its content becomes unclear. “Public” apparently stands for “people who are able to spend money” …
In the “political arena”, it seems that job losses are far more disastrous than a loss of life … or nature …
For about 50 years I have been trying to stay up to date on what politicians are doing on my behalf. The greatest danger to democracy is that fellow citizens become insensitive to political discussions.
A danger about which Roger Waters has written a beautiful song … Comfortably Numb.
“Well, that’s not what “Comfortably Numb” is about. So I’m putting it at the beginning. If I do it, I’m putting it at the very beginning of my show and it will be a soundtrack for the dystopian nightmare that I call the netherworld, where the walking dead are wandering around with earbuds in knowing that there’s something deeply and desperately wrong but not being able to do anything about it or quite figure out what it is because they’re worried about terrorists and immigrants and because they’re buying all this neo-fascist bullsh–. “
Just my two cents …
