January 27, Marjan sang the requiem “The Flood” written by Douwe Eisinga in the Zeeuws Concertkoor in the Vlissingen St. Jacobskerk. As an amateur I took some pictures, doing my best to be as inconspicuous as possible, not to get in anyone’s way, not to make a sound and not to disturb the requiem… SoContinue reading “Requiem “The Flood””

#regel17 or #rule17 in Zeeland.
There is a long list of ethical rules that define etiquette for cyclists. There is also a list that recumbent riders must adhere to and one of those rules is number 17.To comply with rule 17, it is useful to have a smartphone with you …But the other rules are also very useful to adhere to!Continue reading “#regel17 or #rule17 in Zeeland.”
Zeeland nature in January
It has not frozen much in Zeeland this winter. The little nature that is left is claimed by “natuurmonumenten” and treated and maintained as a garden with native plants. The rivers are heavily polluted with polycyclic hydrocarbons, poly- and perfluoroalkyls and other pollution. It doesn’t matter for landscape photography, because it’s pollution that isn’t visibleContinue reading “Zeeland nature in January”

a cosy ride
Today I took a leisurely ride with Quest 552. Unfortunately, I was hit by a car on the way … no wounds to my body but unfortunately a few tears in my beloved velomobile. I am happy that I was well protected by my fairing, but I am disappointed that some of the carbon-fairing was damaged. I will takeContinue reading “a cosy ride”
the beautiful clouds called for a ride
I am terribly annoyed by all the commotion surrounding the US presidential elections, corona measures, saving the neoliberal economy, exploiting the environment and many other things that are all important. Today, the clouds invited me to take a ride in my Quest. So I put on my in-ear speakers, put on some quiet blues music,Continue reading “the beautiful clouds called for a ride”
a short ride to see if I still feel my muscles
Today I was briefly in my Quest 552 to let my leg muscles “talk” … They told me that I cycle far too little. I replied that I am now 64 years old and no longer have to win races … I want to relax a bit more while cycling. They understood. While taking photos,Continue reading “a short ride to see if I still feel my muscles”
Zeeland
Yesterday I had a nice ride in my velomobile. It was not about speed, but about looking at the Zeeland landscape with the eyes of an “actual” photographer. Many horizontal lines in which vertical lines immediately attract attention. The so-called “fertile soil” in Zeeland needs a lot of “fertilizer” and despite the many salty water thatContinue reading “Zeeland”
change of season
In its simplicity, nature is BEAUTIFUL. Maarten van Roozendaal sang about it a long time ago …
storm&rain
Today is stormy and rainy … So I’m listening to my favorite music, reading de Correspondent , follow the money, the real news and many more … trying to follow the turbulent world news (the repeating history) … and I almost cut my hair … 😉 my “freak flag”
I had the night shift during the New Year
Traditionally I will stand on the roof (which is about 50 meters high) of the factory at 24:00h.But there was a thick fog over Walcheren, so there was nothing to be seen of the fireworks in the cities. So I made some photos of my colleague Tim and went back to work … I wishContinue reading “I had the night shift during the New Year”
Hendrik Willem van Loon Hardzeildag 2019
I went to Veere to have a look … and had my camera with me … it was raining first, but soon the sky cleared and the sun started to give a magnificent light … there were a few moments when there was a reasonable wind over the Veerse Meer, in these circumstances the oldContinue reading “Hendrik Willem van Loon Hardzeildag 2019”
Marjan on the cover of Rolling Stone
Okay, not really on Rolling Stone, but on the front page of Op de Hoogte. The magazine of IVN Walcheren. One of her photos was chosen by the editors for the magazine. The other photos can be seen from 1 June at the exhibition in the Schellach cheese farm.
driving through Dutch rainy skies
These are typical rain showers, especially in the province of Zeeland. You can see them arriving far in advance. As a photographer, I strongly feel a need to capture them with the compact camera that I always have with me.
I found an old video in one of the corners of a forgotten memory card.
A video made with an old film camera during the “ringrijden” in Middelburg.
